Vision Board Inspiration: From Paris With Love

Greetings All!

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend!  I for one enjoyed the sun and inspiration of springtime in California and love in the air.  It seemed like everywhere I turned there were birds, people, and even dogs roaming around in twos, sooo romantic!

So I chose to do a post about one of the most, if not THE most romantic place in the world Paris!  And to give you Californians some ideas on how to bring a little bit of Perri (in my French voice), to your next wedding or occasion.

So without further ado, I present to you:

Color Combination of the Week

Happy Friday All!

Today's post will be about a hot new color combination for spring weddings and events, I call it "Seashore Sunshine".

I love this combination because the turquoise and gray add a cool and serene feel, but the white and
yellow add a bright and sunny experiance to balance the palate.

Baby Shower Theme: Candy Land

Greetings and Happy Hump Day All!

Ahhhh, babies! The most precious gift on earth; and the anticipation of bringing one into the earth deserves a celebration, enter baby showers!

So I thought I would share a great baby shower theme idea for any mothers-to-be, Candy Land!

image from fanpop.com

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Candy Land, it is a famous children's' board game that requires players to travel through a land filled with candy and candy coated villains, to make it to the finish line to find the lost king of Candy Land.

Invitations are a great way to get your guests excited about your upcoming baby shower!

Reception Themes That You'll Love

Greetings Everyone and Happy Tuesday!

Lets get the day started off right by talking about the one thing that we all can agree is the reason why most people come to weddings, the reception!  And if you are one of the many people who has changed there reception theme multiple times looking for an experience that is all your own, this post is for you!

I have combed the internet and multiple wedding and event magazines to come up with 5 reception ideas that are truly one of a kind.  Over the next couple of weeks I will be introducing some fun and creative themes that will hopefully give you a little inspiration with your own reception adventure.  Now lets get started!

The first theme that I came up with is called "The Campers Retreat"

These cute s'mores kits can be used as one of a kind party favors that your guests can enjoy long after your reception is over.

Candles of different sizes wrapped in twine on a tree stump give a wonderful rustic/woodsy feel to your centerpieces.

Finally, no reception would be complete without a beautiful wedding cake.  To stay within the theme I recommend either a rustic themed cake like the one shown on the left created by www.poppygail.com.

Or for a more colorful effect, have your bakery create a wooden and greenery feel like the cake shown on the right.

DIY Edible Party Favor Ideas

Greetings Again Everyone!!!!

Today's post will be about some edible party favor ideas that are easy and creative that your guests will love.

I will be giving you some examples of  a couple of different ideas that range from holiday favors to wedding favors; all which can be used at your next event to wow your guests.

The first one I'll start with is colorful s'mores! :)

Picture from 247moms.com

These are a fun way to add a touch of color to your Easter party.  And to make them a to-go option, just wait for the chocolate to cool and harden, and wrap them in colorful candy boxes, that can be purchased at your local craft store (Michaels, Joanne's, etc.) with a ribbon at the top, as seen below.

The next unique idea is a rather popular dessert with a modern twist.  Cheesecake in a jar!

This cute idea gives you the great taste of a cheesecake without the hassle of cleanup.  The jars can also be found at your local party supply store, and the recipe for this delicious dessert is here.

Do you have a spring gathering approaching, but you're not sure what delicious treat to serve?

Inexpensive to buy and fun to make, these delicious delicacies are a fun way to incorporate the feeling of your county fair in your own backyard.   The recipe can be found here.

Finally, a really quick DIY party favor idea that your guests will love is flavored popcorn in jars. (noticing a theme here, I looove jars! They are so vintage/chic!).

These little jars are great for throwing together a last minute party favor.  The jars can be purchased at your nearest party store, and the popcorn can either be purchased at the local grocery store, or if you want to add a personal touch, can be homemade.  There are so many flavors to choose from; chocolate drizzle popcorn, candied popcorn, chili lime popcorn, maple bacon popcorn, the possibilities are endless!  I have included a link that will get you started.  You may even want to mix two flavors in one jar to give your guests a suprise when eating.

Do you have some unique party favors that you have used in the past that you would like to share?  Please comment below. :)

Tips on Picking Bridesmaids for your Big Day

Greetings All,

So you’ve been proposed to, told everyone you can think of about the news, and your beginning to think about the elements of your wedding that will make that day one of a kind for your, suddenly you run into a dilemma, who will be the lucky ladies featured in your wedding with you?
Your dedicated, chosen few that will ride into the battle of wedding planning and preparation with you, your bridesmaids.

Here are some things to consider when choosing those lucky ladies to share your day with:
1.       How Many Bridesmaids do you want at your Wedding?

This can be determined by basing the number on how many groomsmen there will be or how big the overall wedding will be.  Typically there is one bridesmaid for every 50 guests that are invited, but follow your heart, sometimes less is more.

2.       How close are you with your sister or sister in law?

If you haven’t already chosen one of these ladies to be your matron of honor, maybe it is a good idea to consider them for the role of a bridesmaid.  If you are not on good terms with your sister or sister in law though, don’t feel pressured to include them in your bridal party.  There are many other roles in the wedding that they can assist with (that will be explained later) which will in turn make you and her happier during this special time.
3.
Are you choosing your bridesmaid based on the fact that you were previously in her wedding?

This is one of the biggest mistakes that most brides make when choosing their bridal party.  People grow and change throughout the years, so if you are choosing to have one of your longtime friends in your wedding who hasn’t spoken to you in years just based on the fact that she included you in her wedding when you were besties straight out of high school think again.  This is one of the most important day of your life, and not the time to feel obligated to choose someone based on previously being in her wedding.
4.       What roles do you expect your brides to play?

Are you the type of bride that just needs an ear to listen, a body to where a dress, and a group of the closest women (or men) to be around to celebrate the big events before the wedding (i.e. the bachelorette party, bridal shower, etc.).  Or are you the type of bride that is a do-it-yourselfer who looks for assistance from her bridesmaids with various tasks like finding the perfect wedding dress, creating wedding favors and centerpieces, and sending wedding invitations.  Take these things into consideration before choosing your bridesmaids.  It will make your choice a lot easier if you are honest with yourself about the people you know and what they are realistically willing to do in preparation for your big day.

5.       Do you have more guy friends then women friends?

It is completely normal these days to have men in the bridal party.  They are simply called an attendant or a bridesman.  So don’t be afraid to include a man you are close to just because he is a man, friendships see no sexes.

If after taking all of these things into consideration, you have more choices that you thought you would, think about including some of them in other jobs in the ceremony that will also be useful to your big day.  Things such as handing out programs, preforming a song, reading a poem or scripture, or even seating the arriving guests can all be used when trying to find a way to include all those you love in your special day celebrations.  Whatever you decide is up to you, just make sure that you enjoy the company of the people you pick, after all, most of us only get marred once! :)

For those of you who have already gone through this process, how did you pick your bridesmaids?  What do you consider the most important thing when choosing your bridal party?  Please leave your responses in the comment box below.
