Summer Girls Night In Idea: Spa Day/Night

Happy Friday All!

With summer being here and the heat wave making it hard to think, let alone go anywhere but the air conditioned space that is your home and office, it can be difficult to find the push that you need to go out and enjoy these fabulous summer nights.  But don't worry, I have a super cute and fun way to hang out with your girls without leaving your comfortable abode, have a spa night!

Spa nights are becoming more and more popular for sizzling summer nights, giving your the opportunity to enjoy some much needed R&R in the company of friends and family.

Picking a Spa Theme:
When picking a theme for spa night I usually like to just stick to a particular color pattern.  Summer colors like teal and green or light blue, white and brown.  Just think colors that make you feel like your at a retreat or the beach and you can't go wrong! :)

Picking Decorations:
Once your decide on the theme, the decorations come easy.  Here are a couple of examples based on the color schemes above that can assist you:

Picking Food and Drinks:
Depending on the time of day, you may want to go with something like breakfast trays with mimosas or sandwich trays with martinis.  The possibilities are endless.  :)

Entertainment:
For entertainment I would recommend that you have a couple of the latest magazines lying around and some nice mellow music playing in the background.  Also, you can search masseuses in your area using google.com or go on craigslist.com and search under beauty services.

Tips for Throwing a Spectacular Bonfire Party

Greetings and happy Thursday all!

With fourth of July just around the corner many of you are scrambling to figure out what you plan to do, so why not throw a bonfire for you and your friends and family?

Most people think that hosting a bonfire is a lot of work, but it is quite the opposite.  Here are some tips to help you host a great bonfire without getting burned in the process. ;)

Tip #1:
Choose the right location.  Most people who live in California choose to go to one of the many beaches that allow bonfires.  If this is the case for you, be sure to check the beach websites to insure that you stay within the timeline and guidelines they provide.  I have listed a couple of beaches below with the websites attached for your convenience.  Also, be sure to arrive early to ensure that you will have the pick of the litter as far as bonfire spots are concerned.  We have arrived as early as 6am-7am in some cases and just hung out at the beach all day.

If your choosing to build your own bonfire in your backyard or at another location not usually used for bonfires (i.e. a park, community center, etc).  Be sure to consult your local fire department before proceeding to ensure the safety of yourself and your guests.

Tip#2:
Create a theme for your event, this will help you find or make decorations and food.  Here are a couple of themes I enjoy for Bonfires:

  • Western Themed Bonfire:

  • Fourth of July Themed Bonfire:

  • Fiesta Theme:

  • Luau Theme:

  •   Picnic Theme:

Tip #3:
Make sure to have lots of food and drinks for your guests to enjoy.  Here are a couple of quick and easy food and drink ideas for the themes listed above.

  • Western Themed Bonfire:
    •  Some great food ideas for a western themed bonfire include country fried chicken, beef stew (can be named "cowboy stew"), buffalo wings, cornbread, and bbq sandwiches or brisket.
    • Some dessert ideas include mini apple pies, cowboy coffee cake (recipe here).

Great Spring Centerpiece Ideas

Happy Wednesday All!

I hope everyone's week is going well so far.  I wanted to take some time out this week and write a blog entry about some beautiful spring centerpiece ideas I came by in my planning of a recent event.  These centerpieces range from classic to edgy and everything in between.  Enjoy! :)

The first centerpiece idea I would like to share would be a rustic outdoor centerpiece.

This is a simple and creative way to display candles at a rustic themed event.  All that is used are some candle holders, candles of different sizes, twine, flowers, and wood.  Click here for the full DIY instructions.

The next centerpiece idea is more colorful in nature.  It incorporates both flowers and fruit to make a one of a kind centerpiece.

Top Wedding/Event Trends for Spring 2013

Greetings All!

I hope all has been well.  I've been away for a while planning some events and should have some pictures for you all soon but I thought it was time for me to hop back on here and post a new blog. :)

This particular blog will be about some of the top trends for events and weddings for spring 2013.

The first trend is all about color!  Colors like mint green, coral, and peachy tangerine are really in right now.

And for the more bolder decorator, try adding some shimmering accents of gold to your next event, it will definitely give your function a touch of unique flair.

When picking the flowers for your next event, it is important to keep in mind that you want your guests to have the feeling of being in the great outdoors, even if your event is being held indoors.  This is accomplished by using some popular springtime flowers such as poppies, daisies and tulips in bright and vibrant colors.

Greenery, fruit, vegetables and herbs can also be used to give your next gathering a since of warmth and comfort.

When picking a outfit for your next gathering or dress for your spring wedding, the latest trends span from flowing and airy to bedded and laced.

And for the brides who like to think outside of the box, why not try wearing a beautiful pastel colored wedding gown? :)

And finally, when it comes to the type of food to serve on your big day, stick to foods that are light and comforting.  Fresh fruit bars with dipping stations are definitely in for spring.

Bite-sized options are also great for feeding your guests without the hassle of a big cleanup afterwards.  Think mini burgers and fries, or miniature pot pies.

What about you?  What cool things have you incorporated in your events this spring so far?  Please feel free to leave comments below. :)

Girls Night In Idea: DIY!

Greetings All and Happy Monday!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready for your week to come!  For this installment of Girls Night In, I wanted to suggest an idea a little closer to my heart, and that's DIY!  Anyone who knows me knows that I am always thinking of ways to do as much as I can with my own two hands; and while I was recently completing a DIY project with my sister I thought "Hey, this would be an excellent idea for a group of ladies to get together and do".  So if your looking for a slightly different approach to your typical night out with your friends this is the blog for you!

Choosing your DIY (do-it-yourself) Project(s):

When choosing the type of project or projects that you want to do, make sure that they are something that everyone attending will enjoy.  For example, you probably shouldn't choose a crocheting project if some people you are inviting have never even seen a crocheting needle before.  Not to worry though, I have included a couple of fun DIY ideas below to help you get started. :)

This easy and super cute jewelry holder can be found here.

Or this very chic glitter pillow found here.

Or even this classic feather headband, found here.

Setting The Scene:

Depending on the type of crafts that you choose to do, you might want to have a set up of different stations with different crafting materials and directions ready for your guests when they arrive.

Also, make sure that there are plenty of refreshments and good music to go around, this will help with the creative flow.

Concluding The Evening:

After all of the items have been crafted, its a good idea to have gift bags with tags for each one of your guests.  Have them all write either a word or phrase on the tag that expresses how they feel about your group of friends, place there created items in the bag, and hand them all to you, the host.  Make sure that all of there names are on the tags and hand out the created gifts so that everyone has a hand crafted gift that they can treasure from one of your friends.

I guarantee that this will be a girls night that all of your friends will remember!
Have Fun! :)
